The River Hotel is an independently owned 20 bedroom hotel close to Oxford city centre, in a residential part of Oxford and lying on the banks of the River Thames. The hotel has two buildings, the main hotel with reception, restaurant, most bedrooms and a garden down to the river and a smaller annexe with seven bedrooms across the road. All twenty bedrooms are individually decorated and as this is an old property vary in size and layout, as reflected by the varied tariff.
- Most rooms offer a glimpse of the River Thames.
- All rooms have direct dial telephone, data port, wake-up facility.
WiFi is free and available throughout the main hotel. - All rooms are equipped with colour teletext TV, clock radio.
- Hairdryer and hot beverage tray in each room.
All rooms have their own bathroom with bath and shower head. A personal touch with home style toiletries are provided. Eighteen rooms are full 'en-suite' (bath, shower and toilet) including the seven bedrooms in the annexe directly opposite across the main road. The two remaining rooms have a bathroom across the corridor with private access.
- Reception open from 9am to 11pm daily with friendly, knowledgable local staff, with a happy smile and personal service.

- Free car park for residents, with CCTV security. You're welcome to leave your car longer on the day of check-out.
- Breakfast is served from 8AM during the week and a bit later at weekends (arrangements can be made in case of early departure) in the River Restaurant overlooking the river. Start with cereals, yoghurts and fruit from the extensive buffet, teas and coffee, followed by a cooked English breakfast with fresh ingredients prepared to order. Attention to detail is the key and a homely approach - there are a plenty of condiments to choose to ensure you enjoy the most important meal of the day.
- With a
metro grading, we do not offer lunch or dinner service. However, there are a fine variety of establishments to choose from within easy walking distance of the Hotel. - We do have a Residents' Bar - and a large lawn leading down to the River.

- The hotel is in easy walking distance to the city, colleges, entertainment venues, bus station and a few minutes walk from Oxford rail station.
- Ideal for business and tourist travellers, we are one of the nearest hotels to the Saïd Business School and King's Conference Centre.
- At the start (or end) of one part of the 'Thames Walk', the hotel lies on the banks of the River Thames, looking onto Osney Island Conservation area. There is boat mooring on the opposite side of the river.
- For drivers, we are just one mile from the A34 ring road - west exit and offer free residents’ car parking on site at the rear of the hotel with CCTV.
- Oxford Kidlington Airport (OXF) is around 15 minutes journey along the A34.
- London Heathrow Airport (LHR) is around 1 hour bus journey along the M40.

- Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the hotel - it's the law.
- Pet animals as a rule are not allowed in hotel rooms. Guide dogs only to suitable rooms.
- There are steps and stairs into both buildings; with no lift, this may not suit those with special needs.

The hotel is of historical importance and was originally built by Thomas Kingerlee as his private home in the 1870's. Thomas Kingerlee was a master builder in Oxford and built many of the imposing buildings in the area (read more of the builder here
) - he was also Oxford Mayor in the early 1900's.
The property is owned by Christchurch College, a part of Oxford University and a landowner in West Oxford. Christchurch want to redevelop the whole area (read more of the controversy here
